Mindset is Everything!

Mindset is Everything!

Maybe you achieve something phenomenal… or have the greatest failure of your life. Or anything in between.

In most cases, within a week nobody will care about any of it. So why should you?

Both cases require a premeditated mindset of progress, which won’t come without some effort of intent.

The concept of progress is an abstract term so let me add some context.

To me, progress is the purpose driven mission that comes from one’s unique blend of skills and passions with an underlying motive to serve.

Hard to lose your momentum with this at your back. Hard to call it good when you cross a finish line. Even harder to register things as failures and give up.

The real finish line is fulfillment and gratitude which you cannot achieve without progress.

How to Feel Proud!

How often do you let yourself feel proud?

How often do you finish this sentence? “I’m doing a good job at ____________.”

“I’m a great person with so much to offer.

I’m doing a great job with my clients.

I’m managing my schedule well.

I am a good CEO.

I have knocked it out of the park with my clients lately, showing them how to get results. It was my best work.

I give it my all, my everything. All of me. And still had more of me to give.

I gave so much of my presence to my clients no matter how busy I am each day.

I even found time to take a personal day off for me.

I inspire people each day to become the best version of themselves day in and day out.  I spent time in conversation with them. Anchoring the impact of what we do.

I had intimate conversations with clients.

And I gave myself sleep, sun, and a mani-pedi.

I’m so, so proud of the work I have done to get here. Personally and professionally.

I am proud of who I have become.

I am doing a good job.

I’m a great person.”

I actively tell myself these thoughts daily. I breathe into them. Let them sink into my chest. Feel them with my whole body. And then go operate in the world.

It’s easy to find all the ways we need to do better. Where we need more improvement. Where we have less than we want. Where we aren’t accomplished.

To find the things to be proud of.

To say the words out loud.

I am proud.

So what’s your list?

Write it down.

Say it out loud.

Allow yourself to feel it.

I repeat: let yourself feel proud.

At least 50% of the time.

You have to do it now.

Before you arrive.

No accomplishment can ever do it for you. I promise.

Now is the time.

What Do You Fear?

9 Ways To Combat Fear

Fear gets to the best of us, whether it is fear of failure, fear of success or even fear of fear. All of us have experienced fear at some point in our lives and it can be a real stumbling block that holds us back from being truly successful.

Fear can’t hold you back forever, if you don’t let it. There are several ways to overcome fear, here are my top 9:

1. SEPARATE REALITY FROM PERCEPTION

Ask yourself what is really going on, locate the facts and place them over your feelings.

2. IDENTIFY THE TRIGGER

Figure out what it is in a situation that triggers you. Learning to identify it will help you learn to combat it.

3. KNOW WHERE FEAR LIVES IN YOUR BODY

A lot of times, fear takes over physically. It affects different people different ways. Identify if/how it affects your physical body and do the work to take care of your body. Ex: if you hold stress in your back, you can learn stretches, foam rolling, etc. to avoid the pain.

4. PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Every-day, list out 1-3 things you are thankful for. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, gratitude helps shift the mind into a positive light, which overtime, overcomes fear.

5. LISTEN TO YOUR INNER VOICE

Monitor your inner conversations. If you wouldn’t say it to a friend, don’t say it to yourself. Speak positively to yourself and remind yourself of your strengths.

6. CREATE A NEW ASSOCIATION

Remind yourself that the feeling and the moment will pass. Focus on the positive outcome of the situation, rather than the scary in between.

7. LOOK AT THE GLASS HALF FULL

Perception is a very powerful thing, and how you feel about your situation dictates how you respond. So, think positively and you’ll give yourself a much better chance of success. This won’t happen overnight; practice with just one thought. What is one recurring negative/fearful thought you have? Work on reversing this one thought. Overtime, this will become a habit.

8. PRACTICE BREATHING EXERCISES

Breathing helps center your body; when you stop breathing, your heart stops beating. You can do a grounding exercise, or even just take 5 deep, long breaths at any point to calm and center yourself. It is best to start your day with this, but feel free to practice all day long.

9. CREATE A SAFE SPACE

When you feel safe and secure, there is no room for fear. Find somewhere safe you can retreat to when ill feelings begin- whether this is a real place such as your bedroom, or a place in your mind such as the beach. This sense of comfort will soothe you and allow you to face your fear.

Please keep in mind, these are just 9 strategies, not everything works for everyone. But this is a place to start. Start implementing these techniques into your life and don’t let fear hold you back from reaching your goals and your highest potential this year!

Acceptance!

I know lots of people who have not gone back to gym for various reasons since the pandemic began.  And yes, there are lots of reasons and/or excuses.  Since becoming a life coach, I have done extensive work with how the mind is a very powerful tool and have implemented the latest, laser-like tools and cutting-edge techniques to help my clients manage their thoughts and actions to achieve results.  My life coach model is amazing and can help anyone see life in a whole new way.

For example — to get someone to lose weight, it is not how many reps or sets they do in the gym, or how much cardio they do on the treadmill.  Yes, those will help, but in the end it’s the mind and how it works and the fact that it needs to be rewired so that the person/client makes the right choices about their lifestyle and help them think about food the healthy way.  The mind lets you convince yourself that you want to eat that piece of bread, or have that one more glass of wine, when you are out with your friends because you did that cardio.  The mind is a powerful tool and people need to be retaught “how” to think about food to ultimately lose weight and to keep it off, you need to change your thoughts about food.  Everything you do and see begins in your mind as that is where the seed that develops into your perspective is planted. If you want to accomplish your personal or professional objectives, then begin with changing your mindset and you will change your life.

With my Life Coaching I work with my clients on their “entire being!” The mind and the body! I implement many of these approaches and use them to help my clients re-wire themselves so their goals with life are more easily attainable.  This touches all aspects of their life and I have clients I am currently working with and helping each day that have decided to re-start their Lives as a key part of achieving their overall life goals. It all starts with the Mind!

6 Questions to Ask Yourself When Pursuing Your Dreams!

6 Questions to Ask Yourself When Pursuing Your Dreams!

What’s your dream? Want to give your vision a jumpstart? Write down your goals and use these questions to speed up delivery of your dream.

1. What’s your highest priority in this lifetime?

What’s most important for you to experience, explore or embrace this time around? Until you answer this question, your life goals will be off purpose. Unaligned with your inner passion, your intentions will lack the power to attract the people and situations necessary to become a reality.

Get clued into your true joy. What activities did you enjoy as a child? What are your hobbies now? When your goals are aligned with your soul, synchronicity kicks in to guide you to your target.

2. Is this your dream, or someone else’s?

Are your goals your own choice, or what others think you should strive for? Do you want to look back in your old age and wish you had followed your passion? Will you regret having “played it safe?”

Is it selfish to go after your own dream? What joy can you give to others if you haven’t given it to yourself first?

3. Are you settling for less than?

Are you resigned to accepting less than your full share of love, health and success this lifetime? Have you compromised and sacrificed your dream?

Anything short of living your true passions will never make you happy.

4. What will you feel like when you reach your dream?

Personal passion fuels a vision. Dive into the thrill and exhilaration of the feeling of living your dream.

The Hawaiian Kahuna say, “Where your creative attention flows, so flows your life.”

5. What steps can you take today toward your dream?

Don’t defer your dream. Set up supports and systems around you to instantly translate your intentions into action. Jump on every opportunity that is in line with your purpose and vision.

Are there smaller projects that lead to your larger dream? If the dream is to run a marathon, train for a local fun-run first. And find a way to measure your progress. Track those little wins-by writing in a journal or telling a friend.

6. Are you telling yourself: “I can’t have my dream?”

Most people don’t believe they can live their dream. Either their belief system has them believing they can’t make a living doing what they love, or they feel they don’t deserve their dream. To avoid the pain of feeling they can’t have their dream, people often keep their dream so buried they can’t remember they ever had a dream.

Are You Missing the Key to Success?

Are You Missing the Key to Success?

Are you currently struggling to reach your objectives? Do you have everything in life that you desire? Is it easy for you to reach your goals after every success? Are you calm and patient at all times? Or, are you frustrated, angry and disappointed at your lack of progress in life? If you are not living the life you wish to live then the solution lies in your mind!

Your mind has two parts, the conscious thinking logical part and the unconscious part. Your conscious mind is that part of your mind you are using right now to read and analyze
these words. However, it is the subconscious part of your mind that is interpreting the symbols on the page and telling you what they represent. This part of your mind is more powerful than you can imagine and is capable of helping you in ways that seem miraculous at times.

Everything that has ever occurred in your life is stored somewhere in the subconscious part of your mind. It is literally an unlimited warehouse for memories and emotions. This is an extremely important aspect of the subconscious mind. You need to have instant access to this stored information so that you can find your way home, remember names and faces, how to do your job etc., it does have major disadvantages!

Not only does your subconscious mind store valuable information it also stores essential emotions. For example, it stores the emotion of pain and fear connected to certain activities such as placing your hand too close to re. When you find yourself getting too close to re and feel the heat on your skin your subconscious mind will immediately alert you with a feeling of fear. This mechanism is designed to keep you safe and works very effectively. It also works to your advantage by replaying positive emotions connected to certain situations – think of a time when you caught a glimpse of your spouse or child, heard a piece of music or smelt some perfume or aftershave and were immediately reminded of an earlier time that evoked strong loving emotions.

Therefore, we can view your subconscious mind as acting, in its simplest role, as a recording and playback mechanism – a bit like a fully interactive video recorder. The things that occur to you in your life are recorded and then played back when you access those memories. The problem that often arises though is when incorrect or inappropriate emotional memories are accessed by the subconscious mind when you find yourself in new situations. If your subconscious mind has been “programmed” with negative emotions or a negative self-image then these are the things it will play back to you when you try something new or reach out past your comfort zone.

Do The Impossible!

When you work with me, here is what you will learn:

Whether it is to lose weight, run your next marathon, or find out your mindset, you will learn to develop self-confidence through your willingness to take action and course correct

It’s not rocket science, but it is everything your brain doesn’t want to do.

What action are you sitting on TODAY?

What is the action that you know you need to take?

Go do it.

Do it without the confidence. Find a thought that drives you in service. You don’t even need a belief that motivates you forward or gives you the strength to show up.

Then… commit to knowing exactly what you need to do – seriously. Trust your own brain to have the answer.

What is something that you can do TODAY to move that number on the scale in the right direction? What is something that you can do TODAY where you can do that extra rep or set you didn’t want to? What is one thing you can do to make better use of your time? What’s the one thought holding you back from you researching your goals?

Commit to knowing that answer – not “figuring it out.”

If you have any questions… answer them yourself.

It doesn’t mean you can’t ask your coach things or even ask for coaching.

It simply means to never use “waiting on a response” as a reason to not move forward.

In the moment… you always have a good enough answer.

Moving forward is more important than doing it right. Remember that.

Then, TEST IT. Get out there, and make a move.

You can’t get TEST RESULTS without testing.

You need those results to EVALUATE.

What worked? What didn’t work? What will you do differently?

Now you have a roadmap for what to do NEXT.

This is the secret to losing that first pound, running your first 5k, getting the negative thoughts out of your head, and getting the results you want. It’s the same process repeated over and over.

This process develops your self-confidence.

It gets you results.

It gives you SUCCESS.

You can do this.

Do the impossible.

2 Simple Strategies For Never Losing Out Again

2 Simple Strategies For Never Losing Out Again

Life is full of ups and downs and sometimes has a few sideways thrown in too. When things go wrong or don’t go as planned, or when something happens to throw us off balance and doubt ourselves it can be tough to deal with. After all, we all want things to go well and to end up as ‘winners’. But life will always throw challenges at us, and we can’t control everything. Nor should we try. It’s not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you that makes the difference. Here are two easy ways that you can always come out on top.

1. Focus on Your Strengths

We’re a bunch of contradictions – sorry to break it to you. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad; sometimes hopeful, sometimes pessimistic; sometimes childish and sometimes mature. We also have a whole load of strengths and weaknesses that affect what we do and how we do it, but we tend to put more focus on our weaknesses and not our strengths.

A strength is something that you do consistently well– it’s something you’re just able to do, you’re hard-wired to do it well and you get an inherent satisfaction from doing it. It could be tackling and solving complex problems, empathizing with people, having a lively imagination or being able to make the perfect omelette.

Focusing on what you do well rather than what you’re not so good at makes all kinds of sense. When you look at what you’re not good at you feel bad about yourself and your ability, but when you focus on and play to your strengths you’re guaranteed to get results, and can even eliminate any negative effect your weaknesses might have.

2. Set Things Up Ahead Of Time

Sure, there will be times when you can just head into something, do brilliantly at it and get the result you were hoping for (normally if you’re playing to your strengths), but other times you might blunder forwards, wing it and not get the result you wanted. Whatever challenges or opportunities you’re facing you’ll stand a much better chance of getting a great result if you set things up to succeed ahead of time.

So what exactly do you want to happen? What solution, outcome or result would be great? Get really clear on the outcome you want from what’s facing you and how it would feel to get the outcome you’re looking for. Then start breaking it down – what can you do to set things up so that your desired outcome happens? What needs to be put in place? What will help to make what you want to happen, happen? And to ensure the best outcome, what are you willing to do?

Expect With Confidence!

Expect With Confidence!

Often our expectations are based on the assumptions we have about people or groups of people. The same is true of us. Have you ever noticed how your expectations become reality in your personal life? Expectation is literally a self- full filling prophecy. We do this consciously and subconsciously. Remember the kid in grade school who was always really rowdy and disruptive? Sometimes if people already assume they are perceived a certain way, then that is indeed exactly how they will act, even if they don’t mean to. The rowdy kid in grade school knew everyone perceived him as disruptive, and so he was. The teacher expected bad behavior, and the expectations were full filled.

Consider the profound impact this can have in your own life. Are the assumptions and expectations you have about yourself liberating or victimizing? There are countless examples of “self- full filling prophecies,” or the Law of Expectations at work in everyday life. Ever notice how people who think they’re going to be red suddenly experience a drop in the quality and enthusiasm for their work? Then what happens? They get red! Their belief causes them to act a certain way, and those expectations then work to bring about the very thing that at first was only a figment of their imagination.

Want a Better Life?

Want a Better Life?
Easy Ways To A Better Life Want a better life? Big changes are difficult, and take time, but there are many easy steps you can take right now. Take many steps, even small ones, and pretty soon you’re getting somewhere.

A Better Life Today

It’s easy just to look, right? Start looking for specific ways to make your life better, and to improve yourself. Even if you don’t accomplish anything immediately, you are preparing yourself. Thinking about change sets your mind and your motivation in motion.

You’re not looking for an excuse to avoid difficult tasks, but you wouldn’t expect to quit cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine and complaining all at once, right? Just make things better today, in any small way. Seeing results will motivate you for the more difficult steps. Consider some of the following simple actions.

1. Write down some things you’d like to change. This makes the possibility more real, and gets your mind working. Eventually you can make this “wish list” into real goals, with a specific plan.

2. Close your eyes and breath deeply through your nose, whenever you feel stressed. Stress is one of the biggest impediments to a better life. Simple stress-management techniques like this can help a lot, if you make them a habit.

3. List the good things you’ve got. This may seem trite, but a good mood makes life better. Ever buy a van and start seeing vans everywhere? The same thing happens when you buy an idea. Imagine how it will affect your frame of mind to start seeing good things everywhere.

I could go on, but I don’t know what your goals and needs are. The point here is to get you thinking, and then taking whatever actions you can. If you thought about the whole process, you might never build a house, but it’s easy to nail one board in place, right? (And then one more, and one more…)
